Valentine’s Day Treat for Kids: Strawberry Milk (healthy & homemade)

My kid’s love chocolate & strawberry milk, but it is full of refined sugar so I decided to make a healthier version for my kids using fresh strawberries! Check it out:

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups of strawberries
  • 1 cup of water
  • Between 1/4 & 1/3 cup of honey (depends on the sweetness of the strawberries)
  • Milk

And that is it! You will combine the strawberries, water, & honey in saucepan & bring to a boil. Simmer & leave uncovered and let it reduce a bit. Use a potato masher to mash the strawberries & once it’s a syrup consistency go ahead & remove it from the heat. Pour the mixture through a sieve to strain out the bulk of the fruit, but save the remaining solid fruit! It would be amazing to put on top of your toast, or to add to a smoothie! Allow to completely cool & store the syrup in a airtight container in the refrigerator. You’ll need anywhere from 2 to 4 tablespoons of syrup per cup of milk…it depends on how much you would like! Feel free to garnish with a strawberry carved into a heart shape like I did:)
